Machu Picchu Tour by train – Full Day

Our one day train tour to Machu Picchu takes you on one of the most incredible train journeys in the world. Following the route of the Urubamba River all the way to the cloud forest that surrounds Machu Picchu you enjoy the beautiful scenery of the high Andes throughout the course of the journey.

Then of course there is Machu Picchu!! Machu Picchu is considered a masterpiece of architecture and engineering. Its unique architectural features and landscape contribute to a veil of mystery woven around much of the literature published about the site. The magic and mystery of Machu Picchu is internationally recognized and it has been on the List of World Heritage Sites of UNESCO since 1983 as part of a cultural and ecological site known as the historic sanctuary of Machu Picchu.

This one day Machu Picchu Tour has it all – dramatic scenery, soaring mountain peaks, heavenly views above the clouds… around every corner a scene that will literally take your breath away!

Day 1 – Cusco – Chachabamba – Wiñaywayna – Machu Picchu – Aguas Calientes

On the morning of your tour you will be picked up early from your hotel in Cusco, and you and your guide will be transported to Ollantaytambo by private van. Here you will catch the train to Aguas Calientes. The journey by train is stunning; changing from highlands to cloud forests along the way.

Once you arrive in Aguas Calientes, you will take the bus to Machu Picchu for a three hour tour. Your guide will give you a detailed tour on the culture and history of the city. You will visit the main temple, the Temple of the Condor, Inca king palace, the stone quarry and the sun observatory.

After your tour you will have time to climb Huayna Picchu mountain and to explore Machu Picchu at your leisure. The ticket to climb Huayna Picchu mountain is included in the price of your Machu Picchu Tour.

In the afternoon you will take the bus down to the station at Aguas Calientes, where you will catch the train back to Ollantaytambo. You will then be driven from Ollantaytambo back to Cusco in a private van and we will drop you off at your hotel!
